May I burn trash and leaves inside the city limits?

No, not at the current time due to dry conditions in our county.  Please contact city hall if you have any questions.

Police Department

Is the Seelyville Police Department on-duty 24/7?

No, the Seelyville Police Department is not a 24/7 law enforcement agency. The Seelyville Police Department has three paid officers and one unpaid reserve officer. When a Seelyville Police Officer is on duty, they are the primary officer dispatched to calls for service within the Seelyville town limits. When there is no officer on duty, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for responding to calls for service within the town.

What is the best way to contact the Seelyville Police Department?

You can contact the Seelyville Police Department in several ways. You may call the Seelyville Police Department at 812-264-1745, or Seelyville Utility Office at 812-877-2665 and request to speak with an officer if one is on duty, email any of the three officers listed above, or contact Vigo County Central Dispatch at 812-232-3801 (Ext. 1) to inquire whether an officer is on duty. 

Who do I need to call if I have a matter than needs immediate attention by law enforcement?

If you have an emergency, call 911! If you have a non-emergency related matter, contact Vigo County Central Dispatch at (812) 232-3801, Ext. 1. The Seelyville Police Department will be dispatched through Central Dispatch if a officer is on-duty. 

How can I apply for a public records request?

To request public records from the Seelyville Police Department, an email must first be sent to the Town Marshal. A departmental Public Records Request Form will then be provided for the requester to complete and return for review.

Once the request has been reviewed and approved, it will be processed within the appropriate timeframes required by Indiana law. Fees may apply to certain types of requests and, when applicable, must be paid before the request will be completed.

How could I have used this much water?

You may not have - the numbers on your meter may have been transposed or hard to read. You could possibly have a leaky toilet or faucet that's difficult to detect. Just call the office and we'll work with you to solve the problem.

My bill is past due can I get an extension?

Please contact our office and a one-time extension will be extended to you for extenuating circumstances.

What do I do if I am experiencing low pressure?

Check your meter and the surrounding area for possible leaks. Next, call our office and report low pressure for your area.

Why do I have a previous balance when I know I sent in my payment?

We may have received it after the due date or we may not have received it at all. Call our office and we will help you solve the problem.

Why is my water discolored?

A repair could have been completed recently allowing air to enter the line, causing the milky look.

Trash service is not provided as a public utility, but is arranged by each property owner. There are several companies to choose from.
