The Town of Seelyville Police Department is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our citizens through professionally supported and trained police offers. Officers strive to provide an environment that will allow citizens to live and work in a safe and secure community.

If you are witnessing a crime in progress or are experiencing an emergency, please dial 911. This will allow Vigo County Central Dispatch to dispatch the officer who is closest to your emergency. The Town Marshal will be dispatched if he is on duty. Otherwise, a Vigo County Sheriff's Deputy will be dispatched.

Grant Daley

Town Marshal

Marshal Daley is a lifelong Seelyville and eastern Vigo County resident. He is a graduate of West Vigo High School.

Marshal Daley has been a sworn law enforcement officer in Indiana since 2018. He began his career at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office as a reserve deputy. In 2020, he joined the West Terre Haute Police Department as a reserve patrolman. He was later hired part-time and shortly afterward promoted to full-time patrolman.

He graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy’s Basic (Tier 1) course in 2021. Throughout his tenure at the West Terre Haute Police Department, he earned the ranks of Patrolman First Class and Field Training Officer. In 2023, Marshal Daley joined the Seelyville Police Department as the Deputy Marshal. In 2024, Marshal Daley returned to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, where he is still employed full-time and became the Town Marshal of Seelyville. 

Throughout his career, Marshal Daley has obtained numerous extensive and specialized trainings, including: Certified Field Training Officer, Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board General Instructor, Strategies & Tactics of Patrol Stops Instructor, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing & OWI Detection Instructor, Taser/Use of Force Instructor, LIDAR/RADAR Instructor, SoTOXA Trainer, Drug & Criminal Interdiction, Qualified Law Enforcement Phlebotomist, and Nationally Certified Drug Recognition Expert.

Marshal Daley has received both local and state-level recognition for his continued impaired-driving enforcement. In 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, he received awards from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, being recognized as a Traffic Safety All-Star and All-Pro. He has also received recognition from Indiana Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Marshal Daley believes that proactive and progressive policing, transparency, and community engagement are critical to the success of his agency.


Layne Carson
Deputy Marshal
Deputy Carson is a lifelong resident of Vigo County. He is a graduate of West Vigo High School.
Deputy Carson has been a sworn law enforcement officer since 2021. He began his career with the Indiana State University Police Department.  He graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy’s Basic (Tier 1) course in 2022. In 2023, Deputy Carson joined the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. In July of 2026, Deputy Carson joined Seelyville Police Department. 
Deputy Carson has obtained numerous extensive and specialized trainings, Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board General Instructor, Defensive Tactics instructor, Gracie Survival Tactics Instructor, Effective Fitness Combative Instructor, NLETC Instructor, KPCT instructor, Drug & Criminal Interdiction, and Basic SWAT School  
Deputy Carson actively serves in the Indiana National Guard where he is an inter-service Non-lethal Individual Weapons Instructor (INIWIC).
Deputy Carson believes that proactive and progressive policing, transparency, and community engagement are critical to community relations.

John Hendrix

Reserve Deputy Marshal

Deputy Hendrix is a lifelong Seelyville resident. He is a graduate of Terre Haute North High School.

Deputy Hendrix currently serves as the Chief of the Seelyville Fire Department / Lost Creek Fire District.

He began his law enforcement career in 2025 with the Seelyville Police Department and completed the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy’s Pre-Basic course.

Deputy Hendrix also serves as the Town Board President for the Civil Town of Seelyville, Indiana.

Is the Seelyville Police Department on-duty 24/7?

No, the Seelyville Police Department is not a 24/7 law enforcement agency. The Seelyville Police Department has three paid officers and one unpaid reserve officer. When a Seelyville Police Officer is on duty, they are the primary officer dispatched to calls for service within the Seelyville town limits. When there is no officer on duty, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for responding to calls for service within the town.

You may call the Seelyville Police Department at 812-264-1745, or Seelyville Utility Office at 812-877-2665 and request to speak with an officer if one is on duty, email any of the three officers listed above, or contact Vigo County Central Dispatch at 812-232-3801 (Ext. 1) to inquire whether an officer is on duty. 

Who do I need to call if I have a matter than needs immediate attention by law enforcement?

If you have an emergency, call 911! If you have a non-emergency related matter, contact Vigo County Central Dispatch at (812) 232-3801, Ext. 1. The Seelyville Police Department will be dispatched through Central Dispatch if a officer is on-duty. 

How can I apply for a public records request?

To request public records from the Seelyville Police Department, an email must first be sent to the Town Marshal. A departmental Public Records Request Form will then be provided for the requester to complete and return for review.

Once the request has been reviewed and approved, it will be processed within the appropriate timeframes required by Indiana law. Fees may apply to certain types of requests and, when applicable, must be paid before the request will be completed.
